Breaking News: The College of Dental Medicine has been granted "initial accreditation" by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Read more...

WesternU's new College of Dental Medicine is committed to launching a quality, innovative program that prepares you for success, whether in private practice, community service, research or academics. Our four-year program will allow you to learn with an integrated team of health professionals in a part of the country with a wealth of clinical opportunities.

Consistent with the WesternU philosophy, the faculty of the new College of Dental Medicine will actively partner with you to become a humane, sensitive, and technically competent health-care professional. As a student in our program, you can take advantage of a quality, innovative curriculum based on the "best practices" in health-care education today. You will use new facilities with advanced educational and clinical technology within an established health sciences university dedicated to providing student-centered, interprofessional health education.

Students in the charter class of the College of Dental Medicine will embark on a journey with the enthusiastic support of administration faculty and staff.

WesternU: A Record of Exceptional New Colleges and Graduates
WesternU has opened 5 colleges in 30 years, earning exceptional accreditation reviews, high board exam pass rates, and numerous job offers for our graduates. We expect nothing less for our latest addition to the family: The College of Dental Medicine and its charter class.

Read more about what it's like to be in the first class of a new college from charter class alumni who have graduated from other WesternU colleges.

Why choose WesternU? We offer:

  • a small, private, health-focused institution that fosters faculty/student interaction and interprofessional learning.
  • low student-to-faculty ratio
  • a long humanistic tradition at WesternU of treating patients as people first; treating students as colleagues; and fostering camaraderie among students.
  • early clinical training opportunities that develop professional and communication skills.
  • early service-learning opportunities in a variety of community-based locations emphasizing meeting community needs through assessment, education, and preventive programs.
  • consistently high graduation, retention and first-time board pass rates in existing programs. We expect the DMD program to be no exception!
  • compassionate care.
  • outstanding student support services including tutoring and disability resources.
  • diverse student body and rich array of student club and volunteer opportunities.
  • Southern California location with tremendous clinical training opportunities as well as access to
    major cultural and recreational resources.

Accreditation
We are pleased to announce that the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), at its January 29-30, 2009 meeting, granted the DMD program "initial accreditation". Students who enter and graduate from a dental program with "initial accreditation" status are eligible for licensure in all states and US territories, and can apply to specialty programs.
