Question 1: Can you provide me with some information about the accreditation process?
We are pleased to announce that WesternU's College of Optometry was granted preliminary approval by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) on February 15, 2008. According to the ACOE, students who enter a program with the status of "preliminary approval" and who successfully complete the program are considered to be graduates of an accredited program for purposes of licensure and application to residency programs.

Question 4: What can you tell me about the OAT?
The Optometry Admission Test (OAT) score report is required as part of your application file. The OAT should be taken as soon as possible to ensure your eligibility for the anticipated opening date of 2009. Please visit our view requirements page for more information.

Question 5: Is there a minimum OAT score?
There is no minimum OAT score required at this time.

Question 6: How many students will you be accepting?
We anticipate seating a class of 70 students in 2009.
