Your WesternU Support Team

About the Interview & Interviewers

We understand that Interview Day can be stressful for applicants and so we have provided a brief overview of what to expect for the day including the structure and composition of the interview team.

During your visit, you will learn about the curriculum, admissions process, financial aid offerings, and student services from faculty, administration, and staff. You will be able to tour the WesternU COMP-Northwest facility and visit with our First and Second Year Student Ambassadors.

We interview using a hybrid of the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) and the traditional panel interview. You will participate in two MMI stations. At each station, you will have one minute to read the question or scenario. You will then be instructed to enter the interview room and participate in the scenario for four and one half minutes. We will ask your permission to video tape the MMI encounters. The video of the MMI is for training purposes only. Granting permission is voluntary and will not have any effect on the outcome of your application to our school. Once the selection process for the incoming class is completed, all videos of MMI encounters will be deleted.

In the panel interview you can expect to interview with a team of two or more people including physicians, faculty, staff, and/or community ambassadors. During the thirty-minute interview, you will be asked a variety of questions which you should be able to answer by drawing from your educational and personal experiences. If you do not understand a question, be sure to ask that it be restated for clarification. Taking a few moments to formulate your answer is expected and acceptable. If you need water or any other assistance during the interview, the interviewers are there to assist you.

Your interviewers will have a copy of your academic profile and summary of your qualifications. Most interviewers will also be taking notes as they interview you so that they can recall your comments accurately. At the end of your interview, you will have the opportunity to ask questions or to briefly state information about you that you think is important but that was not explored during the interview.

The interview and MMI sessions will serve as an opportunity for you to demonstrate qualities that could not be fully assessed by your application alone. Your interviewers wish to learn more about you and to determine your compatibility with our program.

Please check-in at the parking lot entrance of WesternU COMP-Northwest. You will be engaged in activities throughout the day. Interview Days on Thursdays will be finished at approximately 1 PM. Interview Days on Saturdays will be finished at approximately 2 PM. Please refer to the parking directions for instructions about where to park.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, it is our policy to provide you with reasonable accommodation during your visit to our campus should you require it. Please contact Ms. Sandra Lawler at 909 469-5297 as soon as your interview date is confirmed.
If you have special dietary needs you will be able to indicate this on the interview day selection form.

Identity Verification Policy

Proper identification of individuals allows WesternU to provide a safe and secure campus environment. In addition, the United States Federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), Public Law 110-315, requires that University confirm that a person enrolling in the University is the person who is completing the enrollment form, and that the student taking an examination is the student who participates in, completes, and receives credit for the course.

It is the policy of Western University of Health Sciences that applicants to the University are required to provide a government issued ID when checking in for an Admissions interview. Applicants who are unable to provide an acceptable form of identification may reschedule their interview if space is available. For more information on acceptable forms of identification and the University’s Identity Verification policy, please visit:

Admissions Policy

It is the policy of Western University of Health Sciences/COMP that we do not offer interview do overs. Once the interview is over, we do not offer the opportunity to provide interviewers with additional information for consideration.

All decisions made by the Admissions Committee are final. We do not offer an appeal process.

Our interview day is meant to be informative and enjoyable; we hope that you will take advantage of your time on campus to talk with faculty, staff, and students to get a sense of our values and the principles we live by. The interview is meant to be an informal exchange of information; questions can be challenging and thought provoking. The MMI is an opportunity to demonstrate qualities other than grades and MCAT scores.
