Preparing For Your Interview

Congratulations on making it to the next step in the admissions process! If you haven’t done so already, you’ll want to schedule an interview slot as soon as possible. Available interview slots will be found through your application portal.

Please carefully review the information below to get a sense of what to expect on your interview day. Contact your Admissions Counselor if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon.

About the Interview

We offer you the option of interviewing Online or On-Campus. The two options are slightly different, as you’ll see below. It may help to review the two different schedules but the choice is entirely up to you with absolutely no preference by the Admissions Committee.

At this time, we are offering Online Interviews only. The College of Podiatric Medicine will continue to monitor the situation and take guidance from WesternU’s Coronavirus Response Team. Applicants eligible to interview will be contacted if the situation changes.

Sample Interview Schedules

Online Interview

On-Campus Interview

Closing Remarks

During your interview you will hear from faculty and administration about the curriculum, admissions process, and student services. Both options (Online and On-Campus) schedule time for you to speak with current students. Our On-Campus interview option has a few additional features including an optional visit with The Daumier, our on-campus student housing.

About The Interviewers

You can expect to be interviewed by one faculty, administrator or clinician from the College of Podiatric Medicine. The interview will serve as an opportunity for you to demonstrate qualities that could not be fully assessed by your application alone. During the 35 minute interview your interviewer will ask a series of general and behavioral-based questions, which require you to draw from personal experience to formulate your answers. The interviewers wish to learn more about you and to determine your compatibility with our program.

Preparing For Your Interview Day

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare for your time with us:

On-Campus Interview

  • Make sure your best business professional attire is ready to wear

  • Print directions and plan to arrive early.
  • Have a pen and notepad ready in case you need to take notes.
  • Watch the Financial Aid On-Demand Webinar

Interview Checking-In

Online – You’ll be sent an online meeting link. Clicking on that link and connecting with the meeting will automatically check you in. However, we’ll need to verify your identity. Please be sure to upload your government issued ID when you register for your interview slot.

On-Campus – A government-issued photo ID will be required at the time you check in for your interview. Please report to the lobby of the Health Education Center (HEC), see campus map for details. We recommend parking in the paid lot on the corner of E 1st Street and S Gibbs Street. Please plan to arrive and park 15 minutes before your scheduled check-in time so you have ample time to walk to the Health Education Center (HEC).

Our Identity Verification Policy

Proper identification of individuals allows WesternU to provide a safe and secure campus environment. In addition, the United States Federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), Public Law 110-315, requires that University confirm that a person enrolling in the University is the person who is completing the enrollment form, and that the student taking an examination is the student who participates in, completes, and receives credit for the course.

It is the policy of Western University of Health Sciences that applicants to the University are required to provide a government issued ID when checking in for an Admissions interview. Applicants who are unable to provide an acceptable form of identification may reschedule their interview if space is available. For more information on acceptable forms of identification and the University’s Identity Verification policy, please visit: https://www.westernu.edu/registrar/id-verification/.
